The East Asian Seminar in Economics:
A Brief Introduction and Expectations
The East Asian Seminar in Economics is a conventional academic
conference, typically held in mid-late June somewhere on the Pacific Rim. The
conference theme and venue rotates each year. Around ten to twelve academic
papers are presented at the conference; each paper is discussed by two
discussants and conference participants. In the past, the papers and discussions
have been published in a University of Chicago press conference volume after appropriate
refereeing by both the NBER and UC press. Beginning in 2010, EASE
proceedings will be posted on the NBER's website, and articles may be submitted
to an academic journal for publication.
We have conventional expectations for EASE participants:
