• Ph.D. (Economics), Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1986. My majors were econometrics and monetary economics; my minors were finance and international economics. My adviser was Stanley Fischer; my other advisers were Olivier Blanchard and Jerry Hausman.
• M.Phil. Nuffield College, University of Oxford, 1983. My field exams were econometrics and international economics. My adviser was David Hendry; my other advisers were Christopher Bliss and Terence Gorman.
• B.A. (Honours) Trinity College, University of Toronto, 1981. I specialized in economics, and have a major in philosophy.
• Ontario Secondary School High School Diploma, University of Toronto Schools, 1977.
