Business and Public Policy

I am interested in the business strategy and public policy aspects of emerging technologies and entrepreneurship.

My current research focuses on two themes: (i) contracting in the market for ideas and (ii) the political economy of public R&D funding. 

In previous work, I have examined the R&D location decisions of multinational corporations, firms' strategic use of the patent prosecution process, and political influence in the allocation of public biomedical research funds (featured by The Chronicle, The San Francisco Examiner and USA Today among other media outlets).
