1. All the lecture notes for Summer 2008 are on the Course Materials page.
2. I've posted a syllabus for three sections of ugba-100 I'm teaching in Summer 2008. It includes information on the textbook. 
   
3. You do need PowerPoint for this course, and the ability to print in good quality either at home or in a lab.
   
4. One thing you can do before the first class is prepare your Name Card and Bio Sheet (see instructions).
5. I use e-mail to give you course updates and reminders. There's a system at Haas that automatically adds your e-mail address to the course alias; it captures your name from whichever e-mail you submitted to BearFACTS, so make sure that information is up-to-date.
6. Here's a link to a list of supplemental reading. For example, if you want a more in depth book on public speaking or on American English usage.
7. I've posted a list of suggestions for recreation in the Bay Area if you are visiting for the summer.

I've posted a file which shows the actual grade distributions for all the times I've taught BA-100/ugba-100. I assign grades by class rank and take into account the performance of the class overall, as compared with other sections I've taught.
